Antique Georgian Mahogany Inlaid Shell Sewing Box with Drawer & Key – 19th Century English Writing Box, Satinwood Stringing 40x20x18cm Original photographs gilded in betweenA fine antique Georgian mahogany sewing or writing box dating from around 1800. The box is beautifully decorated with shell marquetry inlays and satinwood stringing, typical of late 18th century English craftsmanship. The hinged lid opens to a spacious interior above a single fitted drawer, each with a small turned knob. Both keyholes feature diamond shaped satinwood escutcheons, and the box retains its working lock with key. Made from richly figured
