We’ve kept the little Gainsborough name tablet just to confuse people

I imagined that it was a very stylised portrait but found an old black and white image of the young socialite at a ball in 1945 and it’s a pretty good likeness

the only frame we had handy is this remarkable museum quality gesso and gold affair so now it’s even bigger

It is a wonder to me that the artist of this highly accomplished little portrait cannot be found listed anywhere
